Barricaded Subject

Lima Police Department Officers responded to a call of a man threatening neighbors with a knife. 

At approximately 2:50 PM officers were dispatched to 125 W. Lane in reference to a man who was threatening neighbors.

Officers arrived and were confronted by a man at 125 W. Lane who was armed with a knife.  Officers began negotiating with the subject and called for assistance.  The Lima Police Department SWAT team, and the Lima Police Department Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene.  Officers negotiated with the man for several hours.  At one point the man was throwing items out of the residence at officers.  The Allen County Sheriffs Department SWAT team responded to assist. The Lima Allen County Regional Bomb Squad also responded with a robot that was used to safely approach the residence. 

The man surrendered to officers at approximately 6:55 PM.  He was taken into custody with no injuries.  He was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center to be evaluated be medical staff.  LPD Officers are reviewing the incident in order to determine what charges may be filed. 

During the course of this incident Main Street was closed from Northern to Robb and Lane was closed from Elizabeth to Main.
